In the Russian Pronunciation an important topic is about vowels and the rules that you have to follow when you talk Russian language. First remember that Russian writing system is simpler than English language. It has five hard vowels а, э, ы, у, о, five soft vowels я, е, ё, ю, и and one semi-vowel й in total eleven vowels.
1st Rule (Soft consonants + vocal) Remember; when you use a word which root ends with a soft consonant, you have to use the soft vowels with it; and always use a hard consonant with hard vowels. If you use different terminations, you have to follow this rule. 2nd Rule( й+ vocal) When you find this case you have to replace й+а, й+э, й+ы, й+о, й+у for я, е, ё, ю, и respectively. Remember that exist more rules about consonants but we explain you the two main rules when you use Russian vowels.
