Everything You Need To Know About Russian Culture And Language

Russian culture has a long history and traditions that is why many people consider it as one of the most amazing countries around the world. Russian culture excels in many cultural aspects such as Art, literature, mathematics, science, medicine and of course sports. Russian people are considered as educated people and art lovers. Add to this Russian Cultural heritage is ranked 7th in the Nation Brands Index.

Russian Holidays and Traditions

Russian has a rich culture represented in its several Holydays and traditions. If you want to visit Russia, you will see that each Russian region has its own traditions. Although Russians still celebrate pagan holidays, many new traditions were established due to Christianity. Today some of the most important traditions are Christmas and Holy week.

Russian architecture

Russian architecture has always been characterized by its exotic and well-designed forms. it has changed from its icons and onion domes such as Saint Basil's Cathedral, Saint Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod and the Cathedral of the Dormition to the modern buildings that you can see in Moscow nowadays. Hence this architecture can be regarded as one of the richest and magnificent architectural styles around the world.

Russian literature

Russian literature is known worldwide by its masterpieces and renowned writers such as Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Alexander Pushkin, *Vassily Grossman *and Alexander Sumarokov. Furthermore, Russian literature was characterized by its unusual shape for a long time, which was the source of numerous controversies as well as major concerns about philosophical problems. Today Russian literature trends have changed due mainly to the integration with Western cultures.

Russian drinks

You can find a lot of alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic beverages in Russia. For instance, the most common alcoholic drinks are: Medovukha, Stavlenniy Myod*, Vodka***,** and of course beer which has been produced in Russia since the 9th century. Regarding non-alcoholic Russian beverages, we can mention Kvas*, Sbiten, Mors* and Tea which is the most common drink throughout the country. It is important to mention that lately traditional Russian drinks have been replaced by European drinks.

Russian Dress

Each Russian region has its own traditional costumes. In the past, the traditional costumes of Russians were characterized by its colorful fabrics and creative designs. For instance, one of the most used costumes is called 'kokoshnik' which consist in a '***rubashka' ***(Shirt)*and a 'sarafan' ***(Dress), fur hats, and felt boots. Finally, Russian people have changed over time from traditional style to the western style, thus it is quite difficult to differentiate between both styles.

Russian Food

Russia has a wide variety of delicious dishes which are known worldwide. Since this country has crude and long winters, Russian food should provide a lot of energy for its inhabitants. Therefore, its diet is mainly composed of milled grains, fish, poultry, beef and pork. Some of the most traditional dishes are ***Tyurya, Botvinya, Shchi, ***Pirozhki and Kotlety which are widely served in almost all Russian restaurants.

Russian Culture in Business

Russian business culture retains many of the characteristics instilled during the Soviet era, most noticeably an autocratic management style that contrasts sharply to the more open and collaborative practices used by American businesses. In Russia, meetings are formal, serious gatherings, and casual behavior is considered a sign of disrespect.
